At Home Energy Efficiency Consultants, we take pride in delivering top-tier HERS Rating services to ensure your project meets Massachusetts’ stringent energy efficiency requirements. Our HERS Raters provide expert consultation from design through completion, ensuring a smooth and compliant building process.
To meet Stretch Code requirements, builders in Massachusetts must work with a certified HERS (Home Energy Rating System) Rater. A Manchester HERS Rater conducts a series of tests to determine if a home meets the mandated energy code standards.
For new construction in Massachusetts, homes must achieve a HERS score of 55 or lower to comply with the Performance Path. Renovation projects requiring a HERS Rating must attain a score of 65 or less.
At Home Energy Efficiency Consultants, our team of RESNET-certified HERS Raters has extensive experience helping homeowners, builders, and developers navigate these rigorous energy standards. Our expertise ensures that your project meets or exceeds energy efficiency requirements, reduces construction costs, and qualifies for valuable rebates and incentives.
With years of experience and thousands of successful HERS Ratings, our professionals work alongside your team from the initial planning phase through final inspections. Our process is designed to identify potential energy issues early, optimize your building’s performance, and ensure compliance with Massachusetts’ energy codes.
Failing to meet these energy standards can result in costly delays and the denial of a Certificate of Occupancy. With our guidance, you can ensure that your project is completed on time while maximizing energy efficiency and cost savings.

Once we receive your architectural plans, we generate an energy model to predict the project’s overall energy performance. This allows us to create a preliminary HERS certificate, which is required by most municipalities to obtain a building permit.
Throughout the construction process, our team provides expert guidance to ensure compliance with the latest energy codes. After insulation is installed, we conduct an on-site midpoint inspection to detect any energy deficiencies. If eligible, we will enroll your project in utility-sponsored rebate programs, helping you save on construction costs.
Once construction is complete and the home is move-in ready, we perform final HERS testing, which may include blower door and duct leakage tests. After completing our full HERS calculation, we process your final utility incentives and generate the official certificate required to obtain your Certificate of Occupancy.
